Security in Match 13

We store the following data for each user:

Public Profile Attributes (available to all users via autocomplete):

  • Full Name
  • House
  • Profile Picture

Matches Profile Attributes (available only to mutual matches):

  • Pronouns
  • Concentration
  • Phone Number
  • Social Media

Private Profile Attributes (available only to the user themselves):

  • Email
  • Blocklist
  • Crushes
  • Ships
  • Matches

Crushes and Matches

You (and only you) have access to your crushes, blocklist, and ships. If you receive any matches, only members of the pair will have access to that match.

Autocomplete

This service is only accessible to users who have authenticated with an @college.harvard.edu email registered with the Harvard College 2026 Class Committee. The autocomplete feature contains the names and Houses of members of the Class of 2026 that have opted into having their information shared with the Class Committee. Thus, the fact that someone is visible in autocomplete is not an indication that they are registered for Match 13. To protect your privacy and to uphold student directory guidelines, all emails are private on Match 13 until matchies are released—even emails that are available within the directory. We believe it is reasonable to include names in autocomplete because they are relatively public, but please contact us if you would specifically like your name to be removed.

Deleting Your Account

When you delete your account, all of the information from your profile page is deleted from our database.

We understand that Match 13 users trust us with sensitive information, and we greatly value that trust. We aim to be fully transparent about any privacy or security issues that may arise.
